How does your training style make you unique?

Weightlifting and strength training makes what feels like the impossible a reality.

It makes you feel stronger and more confident in a health & fitness setting, but also in everyday life! My particular training style combines every aspect of physical strength, with the expression of high level skill and power, to create an absolutely badass human!

What is your message to the everyday person looking to improve their health?

Don’t underestimate the power of 1%. It’s easy to look at other people and compare it to how far you have to go… But trust me, with a little effort and consistency the goal posts are not as far away as you think!

What do you enjoy about the combination of the training you do now?

To me, weightlifting is the perfect mix of skill, art and science.

From nailing the form, to building on that form and executing a heavy lift, to implementing an ongoing training program to take it to the next level, it involves as much creativity as it does commitment to a well-thought out and purposeful goal.

What's been the biggest hurdle in your training journey?

The biggest hurdle in my training journey (and life to be honest) has been committing to something.

But that didn’t come until I found what exactly it is that I love.

Like weightlifting and coaching! From childhood right up until adulthood, I’ve tried everything under the sun to find my passion…

And can safely say that finding the right activity, with the right space and the right people, make all the difference.

What are you seeking to get out of your new role coaching at JB’s

I’m hoping to make a difference in people’s lives and build a lasting legacy, while at the same time improving my own life by surrounding myself with awesome people and awesome vibes. When it comes down to it, I want to make new friends, set and smash new goals (for others and myself), and learn new ways to move… Super keen to be a beginner again and have a roll in jiu jitsu!

Why did strength training resonate with you more than other styles?

Strength training has stuck with me because it’s something that’s totally within my control.

You get out what you put in. As I’ve said, having people around you to encourage you is super helpful and makes it much more enjoyable, but at the end of the day, you’re the one doing the work and you’re the one reaping the benefits (like more confidence, quality of life and incredible resilience!).

What are the main things you have learnt from your coaching journey so far?

The main things I have learnt from my coaching journey so far are that there’s no single right or wrong way to do or learn something. And that effort trumps talent - every time!
